Our Story
Music Mafia Radio was founded in 2016 by Rick Landstrom as an outlet dedicated to promoting independent musicians. Originally conceived as a blend of classic hits and new independent music, the station quickly evolved into an all-independent format after recognizing the extraordinary talent emerging outside the mainstream music industry.
The station’s commitment to quality programming rapidly attracted a loyal audience and a dedicated volunteer staff. In 2017, Scott and Jenny Stephenson, along with Patty Zeller, joined the organization, helping expand both the station’s reach and its reputation within the independent music community. In 2019, Scott “Coz” Stephenson became a partner alongside Landstrom, and together they continued to grow the station while joining the Live365 network.
In early 2020, Rick Landstrom stepped away from Music Mafia Radio, entrusting full ownership and leadership of the station to Scott Stephenson. Later that year, operations relocated from Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Oak Island, North Carolina, where Music Mafia Radio has continued to expand its audience while becoming an active member of the local community.
Today, Music Mafia Radio remains true to the vision that inspired its creation: to provide exceptional independent artists with the recognition they deserve while giving listeners an unparalleled destination for discovering outstanding new music.
