I decided to write this blog to document my travels in creating an indie music podcast. It will be a combination of sharing my experience in creating and publishing the podcast, along with some of the personal stories and observations that help explain how I came to take this on.
I’ve had a passion for music for over 50 years, and it has taken me almost that long to find my place and voice in the art form I love. In fact, it took an absence of over 25 years to allow me to better understand where my true passions lie. I’ve never considered myself to be a performer, because I never had the commitment or drive to perfect the craft. My talents lie elsewhere. However, I have great respect for those who have dedicated themselves to instrumental proficiency, which is one of the main reasons I decided to start the podcast. I would love nothing more than to give a number of incredibly talented musicians and bands a forum to promote their music, and the idea of turning folks on to a new generation of great music is awesome.
I have all the technology in place, which I will outline in a future entry. As of this post, I am exploring webhosting sites, production software and the various legal aspects involved in doing this correctly. I don’t have any immediate plans to monetize, but will be researching that as a future option. I’m also trying to create a format that engages the listener. I see a lot of work in my future.
I’m also compiling a rather large list of indie bands I would love to interview, while sharing a couple of their songs. I possess a very large musical palette, which should help provide a wide variety of music.
That’s all for now. More to come in the next few days.
